Like PPS Ketron PEEK grades also offer hydrolysis & chemical resistance, but it can operate at higher temperatures. While carbon-reinforced PEEK provides outstanding wear capabilities, PEEK 1000 offers wear & steam. PEEK HPV, latest grade, offers excellent bearing performance. PEEK can be used continuously to 250°C (480°F) & in steam or hot water without any permanent loss in physical properties. PEEK is an alternative to fluoropolymers of high strength, for hostile environments. When exposed to flame, it exhibits very low smoke & toxic gas emission & carries a V-O flammability rating.
Some Elements of Ketron Series
Ketron PEEK 1000: This general purpose grade offers the highest toughness & elongation & is unreinforced of all PEEK grades. For instrument components, the black PEEK 1000 is ideal where aesthetics are essential, as well as for seal components where inertness & ductility are essential.
Ketron PEEK CA30 (30% Carbon Fiber-Reinforced): Stiffness & compressive strength of PEEK is enhanced by addition of carbon fibers, & its expansion rate is lowered dramatically. In a product based on PEEK designers optimum wear resistance & load carrying capability are offered. On comparing this with PEEK, this provides more thermal conductivity, improving bearing life & capability & increasing heat dissipation.
